I don’t know how to begin my blog. I just finished reading the news but I still stay reading blogs and opinions of different writers and journalists and sometimes trivial things and even those incomprehensible blogs. Not because they use difficult terminologies but because I am not well-updated on what is going on. The news about the situation, in general, in the Philippines is agitating and sometimes it can also be astounding. Whether it is good news or bad news, I still try to keep abreast of everyday news.
What is going on now? There are so many issues and controversies involving the President and the First Gentleman or other political personalities, but why Kho-Halili sex scandal? What about the other controversies and issues involving the First Gentleman? Like the alleged bribery issue for the president to recall her veto of the franchise bills of the PCC and APC Network; when he allegedly used the PCSO funds for campaign of some senatorial candidates; like Estrada, he was also allegedly involved in “jueteng payola” issue; the Jose Pidal account which is not clearly solved until now; the alleged German account; broadband project and the fertilizer fund scams; etc. I think the Filipinos deserve to know what is really going on and what happened with those controversies. Do they just die away? Are they trying to deviate from the real issues? I know what Kho did was absolutely against women’s rights and as a professional doctor, it is immoral. But why now? This sex video scandal isn’t new. This has been victimizing so many women and children and has been one of the causes of families being torn apart. Is it because the election is near? It just happened that Kho, Halili and Belo are famous personalities. Do we have to be famous first in order to get the attention of the lawmakers to the problem that we are facing right now? Hopefully, they would be able to establish more laws protecting women and children. I did not mean laws without fangs, I mean biting laws that will penalize the culprits.
The president and her minions have deceived the Filipino people. They keep on saying that 2010 election will push through. But what happened on 11:30 p.m. of July 2, 2009? The congressmen held an emergency session and approved the con-ass resolution without the senate. According to the news that those congressmen who voted allegedly received P20 million pesos…each??!! I wonder how many hungry mouths could P20 million from just one congressman feed. It may not be enough but it could at least ease the hunger problem in the Philippines.
The world is faced with fear and terror about the coming of the new influenza A(H1N1) virus, more popularly known as the swine flu. The WHO has declared this virus a pandemic. The Philippines has been now following the worldwide trend of rising flu cases. It causes panic but the health officials said that this flu is “mild” compared to the other diseases who killed millions of people like cancer, AIDS and the other types of flu. I think boat and road accidents in the Philippines killed thousands of people than swine flu. But I hope that pharmaceutical firms all over the world can develop a new vaccine to control the spread of this flu.
Regarding the rebels and terrorists in the Philippines, I can’t understand why until now they still continue to exist and rule in some parts of the Philippines. When you think of it rationally, they operate in small groups. The AFP is bigger and larger than these rebels. There are numerous encounters between rebels and the AFP but they could neither stop these rebels nor end this long fight. Is it incompetence? Is it inadequacy of supplies? or is it obsolescence of ammunition? The AFP usually releases reports that they almost defeated the enemy but it makes me wonder how do these rebels get their supply ammunition and how do they get in the country. Is there no secret business between the government and these rebels? I wonder how much profit they earn.
I felt sorry for the Filipinos who are trapped in the midst of enduring poverty in the Philippines. Maybe civil unrest or civil disobedience is probably the best way to resent against the current dingy system. Unless we don’t change the system, we stay trapped in the abyss of severe economic poverty.

We are so concern and terrified about the swine flu virus. But there is one incurable “disease” that we encounter everyday, consciously and unconsciously and that is STUPIDITY. We may not admit it but it is true. Even the most intelligent and smart people around the world do something stupid. But we are all human. We are imperfect so we commit mistakes. Our stupidity shows in different levels and situations. There are times when we know that we have done something really stupid but we still continue to be stupid, act like stupid, do something stupid and stay to be stupid.
When your parents work hard to send you to a prestigious school in order to give you a brighter future but you refuse to learn but instead play truant, isn’t this an obvious stupidity?
When you are deeply and passionately in love with someone who has no feelings for you, abuse you and use you but you still stay hoping that he/she will change. That is not “love is blind” because even your five sense, literally and figuratively, tell you that something in you had gone amiss. If you stay with him/her, you are obviously stupid.
When you know the effects of illegal drugs or alcohol but you persistently use it. You probably have problems in life but everyone has. Taking illegal drugs and drinking alcohol are not solutions to your problem but an obvious move of a stupid person.
These are only few instances of stupidity that we refuse to admit but sometimes we already did and will do something stupid or even stay being stupid.
We have so many wants in life that we really don’t need. Sometimes what we need is not what we want. Just like the learning of the language here. We need it but there are people who don’t want to learn it.
As human, we moan and grumble over nothing. We are blessed and fortunate enough that we have what we need. But there are people who aren’t contented and dissatisfied of what they have in life. That is a typical human. What we need is, I think, cheaper than what we want. But we live in this materialistic world. We always wanted so much more than what we earned or worked for. So why complain about the crisis affecting the world? It is apparently the result of our endless greed.
